State of care in England (2009/10)
The Care Quality commission has published its second annual report into the state of care in England. It highlights improvements in the care system – waiting times have improved considerable; however it also states that as many as 40% of patients were not told what danger signals to watch for after they went home from hospital
New Guidance to Improve Care for Vulnerable Patients
The Department of Health has today launched four new sets of safeguarding guidance to improve the care of vulnerable people in NHS funded care. The documents stress the importance of personalised care and dignity and offers practical advice on how to deliver this.

"Get back to normal quickly after surgery for the best result" say leading surgeons
Patients are being advised by specialists from the Royal College of Surgeons to get back into their normal routine as soon as it is safe to do so after surgery in order to have the best chance of a speedy recovery
Breast cancer surgery services in England viewed positively by patients
The National Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Audit has found that 80% of patients who underwent mastectomy or breast reconstruction surgery felt that they had always been treated with respect and dignity while in hospital; 90% of them rated the care they received as excellent or very good; over 90% were very satisfied with the competence of their consultant surgeon, and 85% were very satisfied with the professionalism of the team.
